SFFS: Snippet of “A Brief Discussion”

Science Fiction & Fantasy Saturday

Welcome back to another Science Fiction Fantasy Saturday!

Is everybody ready for candy overload? Next Saturday is Halloween. Here in the states, I see hundreds of kids in costume whoring themselves for a few pieces of candy. I’m not really complaining. I did it myself when I was young. I guess it’s part of the Circle of Life.

Today’s contribution continues the series of snippets from a deleted scene from my fourth book, ALONE IN THE UNIVERSE.

Cover for 'Alone in the Universe'

In the last post, tension levels rose as Kate expressed her confusion, upsetting Anna even more.

The following is the last snippet of this series.

If you wish to read the entire series up to this point, you can catch up here:
A Brief Discussion, Part 1
A Brief Discussion, Part 2
A Brief Discussion, Part 3
A Brief Discussion, Part 4
A Brief Discussion, Part 5
A Brief Discussion, Part 6
A Brief Discussion, Part 7
A Brief Discussion, Part 8

And now, here is this week’s snippet. Enjoy!

She heard Kate’s footsteps move toward her. “I’m upsetting you. I’m sorry.” Kate’s arms wrapped around her and squeezed.
Anna leaned into the embrace and relaxed. “Isn’t this information in the database?”
“Not really. The data downloaded from our old ship didn’t contain much in the way of biology.”
“We’ll have to fix that. I really don’t want to talk about this again anytime soon.”
  “That’s fine with me.”

Heartfelt comments from both of them – even if Kate hasn’t got a literal heart!

And we shall never speak of this again.
    Speak of what?
    Exactly.
Fun snippet watching these two wrestle around the topic of gender.

Looks like everything worked out in the end 🙂 A sweet little exchange.
