SFFS: Snippet of “A Brief Discussion”

Science Fiction & Fantasy Saturday

Welcome back to another Science Fiction Fantasy Saturday!

My new blog series about my books’ starships should be premiering soon. The first illustration is almost done and looks really good so far. I can hardly wait.

Today (19 September) only, my second book, ALONE IN PARADISE, is available for free on Amazon for the Kindle. If you don’t have a copy, take advantage of this deal and grab a copy for yourself. If you do, please spread the word.

Today’s contribution continues the series of snippets from a deleted scene from my fourth book, ALONE IN THE UNIVERSE.

Cover for 'Alone in the Universe'

In the last post, Kate posed a question to Anna about some odd yet strangely familiar (familiar to us) creatures wandering the station.

If you wish to read the entire series up to this point, you can catch up here:
A Brief Discussion, Part 1
A Brief Discussion, Part 2
A Brief Discussion, Part 3

And now, here is this week’s snippet. Enjoy!

Anna smiled after hearing Kate’s description. “Oh, you mean men.”
“I guess so. What are men?”
Anna struggled to keep from laughing. “Well, men are the opposite sex.”
“The opposite sex? I don’t understand.” Kate shook her head while her eyebrows knitted again.
“Well, they are the opposite gender.”
Kate pointed toward her. “Oh, gender. I understand that. What I don’t understand is how they are opposite. I thought humans had only one gender.”

Thank you for taking the time to read my snippet! Please take another moment to leave a comment with your thoughts and feedback. To read the SFFSaturday contributions from other authors, please click here.

Oh boy! She has a LOT to learn!

  2. Misa says:

This is going to get very interesting very quickly.

  3. T. M. Hunter says:

Life would probably be simpler if she was right, but alas, I have a feeling that Anna is going to have a lot to teach her.

  4. Very funny! How many genders is she used to?

  5. JC Cassels says:

If she’s confused by two genders, wait until she comes across a species with three or more! Nicely done.

  6. Pippa Jay says:

Man, this reminds me of all the varying versions of ‘The Talk’ with my monsters. >_<
