SFFS: Snippet of “A Brief Discussion”

Science Fiction & Fantasy Saturday

Welcome back to another Science Fiction Fantasy Saturday!

I have a new blog series coming soon that will detail some of the starships presented in my books in addition to some that may show up in future stories. I have the first three written. I’m just waiting for the illustrations before I can post them. I’m really excited for this, and I hope you enjoy them.

Today’s contribution continues the series of snippets from a deleted scene from my fourth book.

Cover for 'Alone in the Universe'

In the last post, Anna showed she was a little less than satisfied at the jumpsuit Kate had brought back for her.

If you wish to read it for yourself, you can catch up here:
A Brief Discussion, Part 1
A Brief Discussion, Part 2

And now, here is this week’s snippet. Enjoy!

Anna beckoned Kate to follow and retreated to her quarters. She stopped halfway across the room and turned to watch Kate enter.
Kate reached for the zipper head but paused, her eyebrows knitting. “Anna, I have a few questions.”
“Sure. I have a couple for you, too.” Anna circled her hand in the air. “You go first.”
“Okay. As I searched, I’d observed several people that looked quite different from you and me.”
Anna cocked her head. “How so?”
“They were a little taller, broader at the shoulder, and wore their hair shorter than us. Some were more muscular. They also didn’t have breasts.”

Thank you for taking the time to read my snippet! Please take another moment to leave a comment with your thoughts and feedback. To read the SFFSaturday contributions from other authors, please click here.

  1. Peter Vialls says:

Oh boy – has Kate got a lot to learn!

  2. OK, we can guess what she’s seen. Does she like the new people?

  3. JC Cassels says:

Oh…THOSE people. Yes, those pesky men-people. Best avoid them at all costs. No good can come of mixing with them.

  4. S.A. Check says:

Looks like it’s time for “the talk”. I wonder if she’ll fall for, “stay away from them, they have space cooties”?

  5. T. M. Hunter says:

Uh oh…nothing good can come from this conversation! Time for an oddly-timed klaxon to sound…

  6. Pippa Jay says:

Lol, so she’s just noticed men? That’ll be fun. Can’t wait for the stuff on spaceships!
